Hula From The Heart

Ka Pā Hula o Kawailehuaaʻalaikekuahiwi

“Hula is the language of the heart, therefore, the heartbeat of the Hawaiian People.”

Aloha kākou!

Hello (love) to you all!

Hula From The Heart is a traditional Hawaiian dance studio featuring the dances of the Hawaiian Islands as well as offering ukulele lessons for beginners through advanced.

Our studio serves children and adults in the Antelope Valley. Anyone who has the desire to learn, share, and be challenged, is welcome. Our goal is to help perpetuate the rich culture of Hawaiʻi.

The official name of this Hula dance school, or halau, as we say in Hawaiian, is:

 Ka Pā Hula o Kawailehuaaʻalaikekuahiwi.

That may seem like a mouthful to the non-Hawaiian speaker, but the biggest thing is the beauty that lies in its meaning, "Ka Pā" is simply, "the hula troupe or studio," and the word "o" translates to "of." Kawailehuaaʻalaikekuahiwi is the Hawaiian name of Hula From The Heartʻs Director and Teacher (Kumu), whom we call, "Auntie Kawai." Within the literal meaning of this impressive Hawaiian name lives its true beauty, "The sweet lehua nectar of the mountain"...the Lehua blossom of the ʻŌhiʻa tree.

The Lehua blossom is shown here and

in the background above.

It is a treasured flower of the Hawaiian islands

which bringswith it a beautiful legend

Kumu Auntie Kawai not only teaches traditional (kahiko) and modern (auana) Hawaiian hula (dance), but also enriches your experience with Hawaiian history, language and culture of the islands, including legends, such as that of the Lehua tree, that you will find here.

Come join us for a total Hawaiian Hula experience!
