Hula From The Heart offers Beginner to Advanced classes in Hawaiian Hula dance for students ages 3 to adult.  Students learn traditional ancient Hawaiian dances, called kahiko, as well as modern style hula, known as auana.

 

Students also learn the language of the dance by exposure to the Hawaiian language. Students have opportunities to learn how to use traditional implements, such as the ʻiliʻili (stones), ʻuliʻuli (feathered gourd rattle), ipu (percussion instrument made from gourds), pahu (drum) and pūʻili (bamboo sticks)  as part of the dance.

 

The immersion into the customs and culture of the Hawaiian Islands through the music and dance is the background needed to express the beauty of hula.
